Writing Web Site Content Basics

Here are a few tips you should always follow when writing web site content. When you have a business online, all the content you put on the Internet is very important. In fact, the content you place on the Internet is probably the most important part of your business. And the most important of all the content is the content you put on your web site.

The first tip you should always keep in mind when writing web site content is to make the content valuable to your visitors. In other words, you want to make sure anyone who reads your web site content gets something from it. The two most common types of value that reader’s look for is to be entertained or informed. You should try to give them one or both of these. The exact value you provide should be determined by the type of site you have.

What web site content should I be writing

When writing web site content you also want to make sure it is reader friendly. This means you should keep your words, your sentences, and your paragraphs short.

Write on a level that an average 7th grader could read and understand. There are exceptions to this rule. If you have a web site for PHD’s then you will want to write on a higher level because the people who visit your site might find a lower level to be annoying.

Also, use a font that is easy to read. You don’t want to get too fancy with your fonts. Keep it simple and basic. You should use a color that is easy to read too. Black letters on a white background or dark letters on a light background would be great.

When composing your content you should use your keywords throughout, but not too often. Use your page’s primary keyword phrase in your title, description and keyword Meta-tags. Use your keyword within your page in the first paragraph, the last, and up to once per hundred words in your writing.

Finally, you want to use what’s known as the reverse pyramid. You want to provide the most important information first and then provide the details later. You want to get more specific with the details the farther down on the page you go. Be sure to provide all the most important content where it can be viewed on the screen without scrolling down at all.

When writing web site content there are a few tips that you want to follow at all times. You always want to provide value to the reader, you want to make the content user friendly, and you want to include the most important information first. You also want to use your keywords in a way that will help the search engines find your page. If you follow these tips then you will be well on your way to having a successful site.
