Even though most successful entrepreneurs will tell you it's important to invest money in any business, you can make money online without spending a dime. Granted, there are some severe downfalls to taking this route. Yes I agree you can build an income for free, but you will have to spend more time on your business and work much harder.
Affiliate Marketing
The #1 way people try to make money online today is through affiliate marketing. This is where an individual or company provides a product and you receive a commission for any one that purchases through your personal promotions. If you have a website you can utilize everything, but if you don't want to spend money then I recommend something like Clickbank.
This is a site full of informational downloadable products that anyone from around the world can purchase. You can promote these in social networks, emails, forums, videos or anywhere else you see fit and earn money when people purchase. This varies from one product to another, but if you do your research and look over each one you will get a better understanding.
There are other sites as well like Commission Junction, LinkShare, Ebay, and tons of big name companies that are probably in your local area (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.).
Writing
This has become a popular avenue for anyone that enjoys adding their own two cents to anything. Whether you are looking for freelance work, want to build your online presence, get paid by page views, get hired on somewhere, or want to start your own blog and talk about anything this is the way to go.
The last option is very important because you can start your own blog, write about anything you want, and monetize it to make money several different ways. In fact, you can combine this with affiliate marketing and broaden your horizon a bit. Then of course you will learn about other avenues such as Google Adsense, how to sell ad space on your blog, and various other opportunities.
I understand writing is not for everyone, but if you've ever commented on anything then I know you have something to say. So get out there and give it try. It's free and it's fun whether you're trying to make money or not.
Survey, Reading Advertisement, Etc.
Okay, I will tell you that this is not the greatest way to make money online for free, but it's a possibility. You have to do a little more work here, but if you just need a few extra bucks a month to supplement your income any of these types of options could be for you. Just don't count on earning much.
Online Survey
You will spend a good deal of time answering questions just to see if you qualify for the survey. Since most people only qualify for the occasional survey it can take more time than it is worth to do them.Never pay for these! Several ebooks are being sold which just give you a list. Simply do a search online and you will find as many as you can handle and it should be free to signup. If they ask you to pay, assume it is a scam.
Reading Advertisements
Commonly known as Get Paid to Read (GPTR), it takes a lot of emails to make money since you are only credited a fraction of a cent for each email. The only way to make a dollar per month with most programs is to build a sizable downline.It is quite common to find GPTR companies that do not pay their members. The failure rate for these companies is very high. Here today, gone tomorrow.
In the end there are plenty of ways to make money online without spending some sort of upfront cost, but you will have to put in the hours. So take some time to look around and see what you can find.
