One of the biggest questions revolving around making money online is how you can start a free online business. Even though many so called "Internet gurus" will tell you it's not truly possible, I'm here to tell you that is not true. It's important to understand that there are pitfalls to taking this route, but if you have the time I can show you the route to take.

The first thing to do when you start a free online business is find a website that allows you to utilize their domain as your own. If you do a search for "free websites" in Google you will find a plethora of options. Places like "freewebs.com" will let you create your own webpage on their site and provide you with a domain. It might read something like; "yourwebsite.freewebs.com," but it's a start.

When you sign up for your account the next thing to go over is what type of niche you want to promote online when you start a free online business. Honestly you should already have this figured out before you even spend time on finding a free website, but if you don't now would be the perfect time.

So now you have a website and a niche. Here you have to decide if you want to keep the free domain or get your own. There are two options to take here and one of them will cost you at least .89 cents. If you don't like seeing the "freewebs" or any other site that you used name in the domain, purchase your own. You can go to GoDaddy and get a .info name for .89 cents. Then you can forward it with masking features so when people visit your site they only see the domain you purchased.

The best avenue to take is affiliate marketing if you want to start your own business online for free. You can create your own content on this free website and talk about anything you want regarding the niche. The biggest thing is to provide visitors with a link where they can be directed to whatever it is you are promoting.

Another angle to look at when you start a free online business is keeping in contact with everyone. This is where an autoresponder comes into play. You can ask them to sign up for a newsletter you email out one or two times a week, or give away something for them placing their name and email in the appropriate box.

If you do a search in Google there are free autoresponder sites available. Again, the downfall to doing everything for free is that you won't get all the benefits as someone who pays. When it comes to autoresponders there will usually be a company advertisement on their box that they will require you to keep it there. Hey, it's well worth it if you're going the free route and just something you have to deal with until greener pastures arrive.

One of the best, GetResponse gives you a free version but you only get to send 5 emails to your opt-in list. Of course that restriction is dropped once you upgrade to the paid version – their rates for the upgraded version are among the best online.

Everything else revolves around getting people to your site. One thing I will tell you is it's more important to have visitors coming to you as opposed to you trying to go find people to come to your website. You can make this happen through article marketing, which is where you write a piece of content, add the link to your site at the bottom of the page, and place it in as many directories as possible.

It sounds a lot easier than it is, but if you're willing to put in the work I know you can make it successful. Oh, and if you don't want to mess with a website just yet then utilizing a blog may be more beneficial for you instead. However, taking the route above can make you money online. If you know it's going to take longer than normal to start a free online business, you will have an easier time overcoming the obstacles in the end.
