About Me - Start an Online Home Business

Long before I began to start an online home business I spent a lifetime in offline small businesses.

Began working before age 10. Bagging potatoes and candling eggs. How many people still know what that is?

At age 15 I was managing the dairy department. This was a small department in small town USA in the 1950's. The job could be done after school. Cleaning, stocking, inventory control, ordering, displays - a one man job. And still time to bag groceries and carry out at the check-out. $0.80 per hour.

By age 16 I was managing dairy and frozen working 4 hours weekdays, 8 to 12 hours weekends. Days off - hmmm.

Note that this was back in the 1950's so it was no big deal in a tiny town (under 800 population) and a small grocery. Call a high schooler "manager" and get more work out of one that was a good worker to start with. And very little (if any) pay differential.

After High School I went to University for a year. Then Junior College for a 2 year Associates Degree. I guess that would be called a Community College today. Over the years I have completed 2 other Associates programs.

Since then I was primarily involved in management or business start-ups. Some successful, some not. But you learn from each.

"Several billionaires suffered a bitter professional setback early in their careers that heightened their fear of failure. Pharmaceutical tycoon R.J. Kirk's first venture was a flop--an experience he regrets but appreciates. 'Failure early on is a necessary condition for success, though not a sufficient one,' he told Forbes in 2007."

Became disabled in 1999. I can still sit in an office chair in front of the computer. It took a few years to learn to transition from offline business to starting an online home business.

Even with a lot of knowledge it is not always easy to put it all together into a successful online home business model. Then I found Site Sell and SBI.
